BENTON [mdash] Eileen L. Warren, 97 of Thompsonville, formerly of McLeansboro passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2016 at the Franklin Hospital. She has been living at Helia Healthcare in Benton. She was born Dec. 1 1919 in Springbrook, Wis., to Herbert and Estella McNitt. She was a former member of the McLeansboro Eastern Star. Eileen was a member of the Emmaus Road Baptist Church in Ewing. She is survived by three sons, Herbert (Joyce) Warren of Hutchinson, Kan., David Warren of Thompsonville, and Jeff (Faye) Warren of Thompsonville, one daughter Kristina (Mike) Cavaness of Thompsonville. She had 11 grandchildren, great grand children and great-great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, James H. Warren Sr., a son James H. Warren Jr., two brothers and two sisters. As per Eileen's wishes her body has been donated to the SIU School of Medicine. She is to be cremated and a family celebration of life will be conducted at at later date. Eielen's love of children promoted her to request memorials be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital and St. Jude's Hospital. Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is assisting the family in the arrangements. Memorials can be given to the funeral home and condolences put on Gholson's website

MCLEANSBORO [mdash] Genevieve (Tony) Mae (Frederick) Moore, 101 years, five months, two days young, passed away February 2, 2017 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, Illinois. She was born September 5, 1915 in Pike County, Indiana, to the late Carl and Naomi (Murry) Frederick. She was a member of the Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church in McLeansboro. She loved to do yard work, garden and watch Cardinals baseball games. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Genevieve Frederick Moore married the late Samuel David Moore on December 31, 1935. To this happy union was born four children: David Roger Moore (Sondra) of Evansville, Indiana, Richard Nolan Moore (Betty) of McLeansboro, Illinois, Joye Yvonne (Joseph) Brockett of Benton, Illinois and Brent Rogrich (Doreena Kaye) Moore of Selmaville, Illinois. Genevieve Frederick Moore was preceded in death by her mother (1967), father (1971) and husband (1988), sisters Maud (1910) and Geraldine (1919), half-sister Catherine (1964) and brother Carl Jr. (2014), and granddaughters Julie Lynn Moore and Christina Lea Moore (1986). Genevieve Frederick Moore was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Gideons International will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro or the Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of arrangements.

MCLEANSBORO [mdash] Reva Jewell Phillips, 93, of McLeansboro, left her earthly home to be with the Lord in her Heavenly home at 10:56 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. Visitation was held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016, at Ten Mile Baptist Church in McLeansboro Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Ten Mile Baptist Church near McLeansboro, with Brother Jake Gray officiating. Burial was at Ten Mile Cemetery in McLeansboro. She was born Feb. 11, 1923, in McLeansboro, the daughter of John Lee and Flossie (Satterfield) Lee. She married Paul Mangis Phillips on April 18, 1942, in New Madrid, Mo. He passed away June 25, 2006. She as a homemaker and a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church in McLeansboro. She loved gardening, flowers, quilting, crocheting and spending time with family. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She is survived by one son, Jerry Phillips and wife Kay Lue of Windsor, Colo.; one daughter, Betty Rowland and husband Larry of McLeansboro; grandchildren, Julie and Tom Findlow, Chad and Jenny Phillips, Kelly and Greg Gollaher and Stacy and Bryan Henderson; great-grandchildren, Nick and Jake Findlow, Ryan and Sarah Phillips, Andrew and Matthew Gollaher and Brandon and Grayson Henderson; brothers, Roy Lee and wife Minnie of Evansville, Ind., Donald Lee of Powder Springs, Ga., Doyle Lee and wife Pat of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Robert Lee and wife Joyce of McLeansboro and David Lee and wife Karla of Fairview Heights; sisters, Laura Irvin and husband Robert of Carterville, Phyllis Bond of McLeansboro and Marilyn Smith of McLeansboro; sister-in-law, Wanda Lee of McLeansboro; brother-in-law, Morris Dennis of Enfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Harre Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Shoultz officiating. Burial was at Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro. She was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Piopolis, the daughter of Clara Elizabeth Shuster. She married S. E. "Sib" Bond on Dec. 31, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1983. She was a cook at McLeansboro High School until her retirement. She was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church in McLeansboro. She loved sewing baby quilts for donation to St. Jude's. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Melvin Bond. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home. BENTON [mdash] William Edward Lampley, Sr., age 90, of Benton, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Fifth Seasons Residential in Benton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton, with Rev. Bert Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Brady Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Leffler Funeral Home of Benton. Mr. Lampley was born on October 22, 1926 in Franklin County, the son of Logan Lampley and Pauline (Hobbs) Lampley. He married the former Hazel Margaret Brooks on June 27, 1943 and together they celebrated 73 years of marriage. Mr. Lampley was the founder of Lampley Oil Company. He built the Plaza Restaurant and Lounge, West City Motors, and Lampley Oil Office building. He was also the former owner of the Plaza Motel. His passion was working, and enjoying family and friends. He was a member of the Macedonia Masonic Lodge #1128 A.F. & A.M., the Ainad Shriners of Southern Illinois, and was a member of the Illinois Oil and Gas Association. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Hazel M. Lampley of Benton; four children: Cheryl K. Lampley of Phoenix, AZ, Billie S. Higgerson of Benton, William E. Lampley, Jr. and wife Michele of Benton, Steven C. Lampley and wife Daredan of Marion, IL; seven grandchildren: Christopher J. Fiorenzi of Texas, Jacquelyn Higgerson of Benton, Shannon Melvin and husband Rodney of Benton, Trent Higgerson and wife Becky of Mahomet, IL, James Lampley of Benton, Mark Lampley of Benton, Casey C. Lampley of West Frankfort; ten great-grandchildren: Taylor Fiorenzi, Brock Britton, Mallory Melvin, Jace Melvin, Paxton Melvin, Liam Higgerson, Yorke Higgerson, Logan Lampley, Olivia Lampley, and Luke Lampley. Douglas Bowers officiating. Burial was at Old Springer Cemetery in Blairsville. She was born Nov. 30, 1937, in McLeansboro, the daughter of William "Brick" York and Lilly (Mezo) York. She married Manuel Biggerstaff in July 1980 in Benton; he passed away Jan. 6, 2015. Laura was the owner/operator of K & LJ Restaurant in McLeansboro. She was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to play cards and bingo; loved to shop and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of American Legion Post 106 Ladies Auxillary, McLeansboro. She is survived by five sons, Steve McMahon and wife Sally of Freeport, Gary McMahon and wife Mary of McLeansboro, Donnie McMahon and wife Denise of Mt. Vernon, John Biggerstaff and wife Irene of McLeansboro and Perry Biggerstaff and wife Melissa of Bloomington; one daughter, Carolyn Babb and husband David of Pontiac; three brothers-in-law, Dale Biggerstaff and wife Brenda of McLeansboro, Lowell Biggerstaff and wife Linda of McLeansboro and Johnny Biggerstaff and wife Sharon of Woodlawn; five sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Parr of McLeansboro, Florene Dutton and husband Russ of Mt. She loved to fish, be around her sons and watch the birds at the feeders. Minnie Lou (Lemke) Butler was born on April 20, 1946, in Hamilton County, to Ernie and Ruby Brake Lemke. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Butler. Minnie Lou, 70, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. She is survived by her husband, James Allen of Smyrna; son, Todd (Vicki) Butler of Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Logan, Reagan and Brock Butler; one stepson, Jimmie Allen of Murfreesboro; stepgranddaughter, Jamie Allen; sister, Marie (Jerry) Barr; brother, Everett (Diana) Lemke of Dahlgren; a special cousin, Linda Hammersley of McLeansboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends. Mrs. Butler attended World Outreach Church for many years and was a former employee of the State of Illinois and the Dahlgren Grade School in Dahlgren and locally she was in accounting and tax services for Blankenship CPA Group and Bill Reeder & Associates. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Kimberly Kay Allen and a niece, Cindy Phillips. Harre Funeral Home of Dahlgren is in charge of local arrangements. Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., Feb. 21, in Dahlgren and funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Dahlgren with burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Dahlgren. FAIRFIELD [mdash] Clyde Eugene McIntosh (Gene), 83, of Springerton, IL, passed away at 8:30 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at Way-Fair Nursing & Rehabilitation Home in Fairfield, IL. Gene is survived by his wife of 64 and a half years, Marlene (Woodrow) McIntosh; four children, Connie O'Kelley (Darrell) of Bloomington, IL, Cathy Colarusso (Paul) of Conway, AR, Caryne Zarchy (Richard) of Crystal Lake, IL, and Cliff McIntosh (Julie) of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Shawn O'Kelley (Danielle), Rachel and Rebecca Zarchy, Morgan and Mason McIntosh; two great-grandchildren, Patrick and Brendan O'Kelley; cousins Richard Tullis, Nona Belle Wilson, Darla Duckworth, and Paula Masterson. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita (Lasater) and Clifton McIntosh, and his granddaughter, Maureen O'Kelley. Gene was born July 18, 1933 and raised in Hamilton County, IL. After graduating from McLeansboro High School, he continued to farm with his dad. He met his wife, Marlene Woodrow, at church and they were married in 1952. Later, he attended United Electronics Institute in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating, he was employed by AT&T as a Communication Technician in Vandalia, Illinois. A year later, he was transferred to the Wakefield location and the family settled in Clay City, Illinois for the remainder of his career. He retired in 1990 after 28 years of service and returned to Springerton, IL. After retiring, he worked for Enfield Farmer's Mutual Insurance Company and spent much of his time traveling with his wife and family including trips to Disney World. Gene was a member of the priesthood in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and spent much of his life serving at Brush Creek Campgrounds and the food pantry. A visitation will be held at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield, IL on Monday, February 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at Springerton Church of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at Old Springer Cemetery. MOUNT VERNON [mdash] Harold William Haile, 84, of Belle Rive, Illinois went to be with his lord and savior at 4:46 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017. He was born March 1, 1933 in Wayne County, Illinois, the son of Fred T. and Mary E. (Calvin) Haile. On December 27, 1951 he married Mary Anna Gocking of Hoopeston, Illinois. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past December. Survivors include his beloved wife Mary; a son, Tim (Pat) Haile of Belle Rive, IL; daughters, Dawn Rae (Ed) Allen of Dahlgren, IL, Sharon (Vince) Mitchell of McLeansboro, IL, and Crista (Alan) Grewe of Greenville, KY. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Susan Shull, Gordon Allen, Joshua Haile, Patrick Haile, Hannah Savitzky, Bethany Sutton, Megan Swartz, Brody Mitchell, Lauren Grewe and Rachel King, and twelve great-grandchildren. Also brothers, Ray Haile of Indiana, Earl Haile of Paxton, IL and Donald Haile of Keenes, IL, one sister, Wanda Sparks of Ft. Worth, TX and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Alice Boyd, Lena Rainwater, Ruby Shaw, Florence Estes and Kathleen Lowry, and brothers; Russell, Art and Alfred Haile. Harold was a faithful member of the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church having served as a deacon for 47 years and the Sunday school superintendent for 19 years. He was a lifetime farmer and cherished his time after semi-retirement by spending winters with his wife in Mission, TX. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard McCormick and Jeremy Hamson officiating. She was born November 6, 1921 in Fairbury, IL to Joseph and Elva (Williams) Bowers. She married Walter White on December 27, 1937 and he preceded her in death. In life she worked for the former Elder Mfg. Company and attended the Springerton Church of God. She is survived by one son; Robert White of Springerton, IL, one daughter; Mary (Robert) Schaaf of Cadiz, KY, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. MCLEANSBORO [mdash] James H. Davis, 91, a resident of Broughton, IL, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. He was born April 20, 1925 in Hamilton County, IL to Carl and Mamie (Douglas) Davis. A retired farmer, he was also a U.S. Navy Veteran having served aboard the USS New Mexico during WWII. He was also a member of the former Broughton Baptist Church and a member of the former Walpole Masonic Lodge. Mr. Davis is survived by one son; James H. (Mary Kaye) Davis Jr. of Broughton, IL, two grand-daughters; Samantha and Sarah Davis, both of Broughton, IL, one brother; John Carl Davis of Casper, Wyoming and one sister; Virginia Hibdon of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Isabel Pennington, and three sisters; Katherine Beshears, Grace Pflaum and Elizabeth Busler. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Revs. Randall Ragan and David Angelly officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton, IL with Military rites being performed by American Legion Post 106 of McLeansboro, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hickory Hill Cemetery and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Gholson Funeral Home of McLeansboro is in charge of arrangements.

MCLEANSBORO [mdash] Harold Eugene Kittinger, 92, of McLeansboro, passed away 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. Visitation was held 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Funeral service was 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial was at Smith Cemetery in Dale. He was born Jan. 19, 1925, weighing less than four pounds in Dale, the son of Chester L. Kittinger and Nora E. (Southard) Kittinger. He married Maxine (Colp) Kittinger (the love of his life) on June 30, 1946, in Delafield; she preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2011. He worked in the light Plant for the City of McLeansboro in the maintenance department. He also was a foreman for several years at Suntone Products. He was a member of the Delafield Baptist Church. During his lifetime there have been 16 presidents. He was a member of the VFW, McLeansboro. Harold served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He is survived by one daughter, Karen Sue Vinyard and husband David of Grand Junction, Tenn.; one son-in-law, Don Janes of Mattoon; two grandchildren, Donald Janes and Kristen Janes; three great-grandchildren, Dalton, Tayler and Chayton; and one sister, Fannie Hamilton of Westminister, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine; daughter, Carol Janes; grandson, Charlie Tuttle; four brothers; and five sisters. Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, is in charge of all arrangements.
