MCLEANSBORO [mdash] Herman Samuel Rogers, 75, of McLeansboro, passed away 9:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at his residence. Visitation was 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at Ten Mile Baptist Church in McLeansboro. Funeral service was 5 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at Ten Mile Baptist Church with Brother Jacob Gray officiating. Burial was at Ten Mile Cemetery in McLeansboro, He was born May 1, 1941, in McLeansboro, the son of Ira Tillman Rogers and Juanita Elizabeth (Kniffen) Rogers. He married Ethel Joanne (Boyd) on May 21, 1965, in Waukegan. He was a tool and die maker and had been employed by Johnson Motors in Waukegan, General Tire of Mt. Vernon, Inland Steel Coal of McLeansboro and Proctor and Gambel of St. Louis. He loved gardening and raising sheep. He enjoyed living on the farm, being outside, hunting and fishing and spending time with children and grandchildren. Sam attended M.T.H.S. with the Class of 1959 and attended Ten Mile Baptist Church. He is survived by wife, Ethel Rogers of McLeansboro; two sons, Rob Rogers of McLeansboro and Sam J. Rogers of McLeansboro; daughter, Retha Bond and husband Gerry of McLeansboro; eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Orry, Taylor, Cullen, Cassidy, Colton, Codee and Clancy; four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Orlin, Kinley and Jamie; one sister, Mary Lou Elliston and husband Louis of McLeansboro; sisters-in-law, Neva Rogers of New Braunfels, Texas, and Elva Walker of Murray, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Charles. Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, is in charge of arrangements.

DODSON, Beverly Nov 8, 1936 – May 12, 2017

DAHLGREN [mdash] Beverly Ann Dodson, 80, of Dahlgren, died at 6:59 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017, at her residence in Dahlgren. She was born on Nov. 8, 1936, in West Frankfort, the daughter of Charles Dawson and Ann (Lucas) Dawson. She married Thomas Dodson on Aug. 1, 1954, at West Frankfort and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2010. Beverly was a homemaker and a member of Plumfield Christian Church in West Frankfort. She was a seamstress and she loved reading and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Steven Dodson and wife "Bert" of Dahlgren, and Larry Dodson of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Karen Cox and husband Mark of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, Morgan Thomas Dodson and wife Kristie of Macedonia, Charles Thomas Cox of Mt. Vernon, Matthew Thomas Dodson of Phoenix, Ariz., Megan Nickel Woodrow and husband Jeremy of Springerton, and Jennifer Leigh Dodson of Austin, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Holden Thomas Dodson, Kaleigh Ann Dodson, Rylee Laine Woodrow, Phoebe Leeann Woodrow, and Cody Jo Dodson; and one sister, Peggy Fitch and husband Warren of West Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and great-granddaughter, Haleigh Jo Dodson. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, at Plumfield Christian Church in West Frankfort, with Brother Justin Miller officiating. Burial will be at Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral Wednesday at Plumfield Christian Church. Memorials may be made to St. John Nepomucene Scholarship Fund or The Plumfield Christian Church "Peacemakers." Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of arrangements.
